Rusty Gears Decorative Shelf with Hooks

Inspiration: I found this shelf at a garage sale and decided to upcycle it for a rust-inspired project combined with fun gear moulds, 3D-printed gears, mechanicals, and found objects that I had on hand! 😊. I hope this inspires you to create something fun!

Description: I used two-part Amazing Casting Resin to create several gears using Prima Finnabair moulds. I adhered the gears, 3D-printed gears, mechanicals, and found objects on the shelf with Heavy Body Gel. I applied Prima Finnabair art Extravagance Rust Effect Pastes to give the gears a wonderful rusty look! I covered the shelf using acrylic brown. Last, I sealed the piece with a matte clear coat. The piece measures 24” long x 6.5" high x 6.25" wide.

Magical Mystical Mermaid

Inspiration: I found a mermaid wall hanging at a garage sale and an old project canvas that I put together to upscale them both into an undersea scene. I was very excited at how it turned out. I hope this inspires you to create something fun!  Description : I coated the canvas with wood pieces and painted it with shades of blue and purple. For the background, I used real large sea stars, large seashells, chipboard gears and resin shaped all layered to give it depth. I added Finnabair Firebird Art Alchemy Metallique Wax to the deep blue background to give it a vibrant look. T he metal mermaid was painted in lighter blue-green sea colors. I decorated the mermaid’s hair with beaded necklaces and mini pearls. I decorated the body with chipboard gears, small seashells, small resin shapes, pearls, and mechanicals. Mystical Masquerade

  Inspiration:  This is the second in a series of three mixed media pieces inspired by the magnificent masks and costumes from Carnival and Marti Gras. Description : This Mystical Masquerade mixed media piece started with the shadowbox and the head piece. I planned the layout of the background elements using wood gear scraps, chipboard gears, mechanical gears and metal butterflies. I then stenciled the background using soft gloss gel followed by adhering fine lace, gears, mechanicals, and flower elements with heavy body gel. Heavy white gesso was used to seal all the background elements. Acrylic paints were used to paint the face piece! I blended colors of purples and blues on the base. Splatter paint was added to the box top and bottom pieces using various colors of acrylic paint.
