Chronomancer’s Dreams of Butterfly Wings

  Description: The Chronomancer’s Dream is the second in a series of mixed media pieces inspired by an old anniversary clock that I found at a garage sale, resin frames, steampunk butterflies and some old vacuum tubes - then the vision came together. I added gears, moulds, a variety of found objects, and mechanical elements. All elements were painted with acrylic metallic paints. Once the elements were assembled, I used waxes were added to provide highlights and various colors. I wired the piece with LED lights to illuminate the vacuum tubes. The final piece measures 16” x 10” x 8”. Magical Masquerade

  Inspiration:   This is the third in a series of three mixed media pieces inspired by the magnificent masks and costumes from Carnival and Marti Gras. Description : This Magical Masquerade mixed media piece started with the shadowbox and the head piece. I planned the layout of the background elements using wood laser cut scraps, beautiful lace, mechanical gears and metal butterflies. I then stenciled the background using soft gloss gel followed by adhering fine lace, gears, mechanicals, and flower elements with heavy body gel. Heavy white gesso was used to seal all the background elements. Acrylic paints were used to paint the face piece! I blended metallic colors of burgundy, purples and blues for the top and the base. Splatter paint was added to the box top and bottom pieces using various colors of acrylic paint. Furniture good caps were added to the bottom to protect the finish.
