Japanese Inspired Love, Joy, and Dream Wall Art by Jason Duigou

Jason's Inspiration: This idea had been in my head for a while after seeing Stamperia's Sir Vagabond in Japan release and combined Digital + Laser Cutter + Stencils + Molds + Rice Papers + Paint + Waxes + Ephemera!

Description: The base is an upcycled garage sale wall hanging that I covered with custom rice papers with gold pieces and adhered with Mod Podge.

Background: I created background shapes in Adobe Illustrator and cut them out on our Glowforge. The sun was stenciled with the Spellbinders “Sun Burst” and Finnabair’s Art Basics Soft Matte Gel and finished with vibrant blended acrylic paints. The mountain pieces were stenciled with Studio Light “Just Lou” and painted with muted dark acrylics and Finnabair’s Art Alchemy Sparks paint.
Elements: The three-dimensional items were cast using Amazing Casting Resin with Stamperia’s Sir Vagabond in Japan Pagoda, Writings, and Plates moulds. All dimensional pieces were covered in black gesso and secured with Finnabair’s Art Basics Heavy Body Gel.
Kanji Characters: The vector kanji characters were purchased on Etsy from Ichizu Design. The circles, kanji characters and English letters were cut on our Glowforge.
Paints, Waxes and Details: The resign cast pieces were hand-painted with various acrylic paints and finished with Finnabair waxes by Prima. The apple blossoms silk flowers were purchased at Hobby Lobby.
