Inspiration:  I found a broken Christmas Tree décor piece on clearance last year. I wanted to fix it and breathe new life into it. Description : The mixed media Christmas Tree Trio Mixed Media Home Décor features three wood trees measuring 14.5” wide 13” wide x 2.5” deep overall (Tree #1: 6” x 8” x .25”; Tree #2: 6.25” x 7” x .25”; Tree #3: 6” x 8” x .25” mounted on dowel rods on a 11.5” x 2.25” x .25” base). I cut corrugated cardboard to the rough shape of each tree, then removed the top paper layer of the cardboard to reveal the beautiful corrugation beneath affixing them to the surface. I painted the trees with three different colors of greens blended into one another. I selected trinkets and mechanicals for the “ornaments” and attached them with Heavy Body Gel. Inspiration: I’ve wanted to create a large steampunk inspired nutcracker, so imagine my excitement when I found a nutcracker measuring two feet tall! My mind began to design the magical  wintery holiday nutcracker that was further inspired by the amazing Prima Winter Effects Kit offered for their 2022 Black Friday event . Description : The mixed media Christmas in Wonderla nd Giant Nutcracker features a sturdy wood nutcracker measuring 24" tall and 4.5” x 5” at the base. I covered the entire surface of the 3D nutcracker with dozens of chipboard shapes, gears, mechanicals, found objects, and decorative elements adhered with heavy body gel. Additional mechanical gears, hearts, and screw heads were added to create more depth. Liquid acrylics were used to give piece some holiday and wintery drama.
